About Dr Kelly Francis

GP • Integrative Medicine • Neuroimmune & Chronic Illness

Dr Kelly Francis is an Integrative GP with more than 25 years of clinical experience and special interests in autism, ADHD, PANS/PANDAS, neuroimmune conditions, MCAS, POTS and complex chronic illness.

She works with children and adults experiencing complex health presentations that often fall between traditional medical specialties. By combining conventional medicine with evidence-informed nutrition, lifestyle, environmental and integrative medicine approaches, she helps patients and families better understand the factors contributing to illness and develop practical, personalised strategies to improve health and quality of life.

Many of the patients Kelly sees have spent years searching for answers. Her approach is grounded in curiosity, collaboration and a commitment to looking beyond symptoms to understand the whole person.

Kelly grew up in Sydney, Australia, where she attended James Ruse Agricultural High School before completing her Medical Degree at the University of New South Wales in 1998. She subsequently undertook General Practice training through the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and began a career in medicine that would eventually take her far beyond the boundaries of conventional healthcare.

Her interest in integrative medicine began during medical school following her own significant health challenges. Frustrated by the limitations of a purely symptom-focused approach, that quite simply did not work, she found relief with a Chinese herbalist.  Her interest in "alternative" medicine was sparked, the flame was lit, and her passion was ignited.

Over the following two decades, Kelly completed extensive postgraduate training in nutrition, environmental medicine, genetics, nutrigenomics, autism, behavioural disorders and integrative medicine. She is a Member of the Australasian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine (ACNEM), an accredited Health Coach, and is currently undertaking Fellowship training through the Medical Academy of Paediatric Special Needs (MAPS) in the United States, with a particular focus on complex paediatric conditions.

In 2010, Kelly founded Happiness in Health, an integrative medical centre on the Gold Coast. Over time, the practice grew into a thriving multidisciplinary clinic that included integrative GPs, nutritionists, naturopaths and intravenous therapy services. Throughout her career, Kelly has remained passionate about helping patients move beyond symptom management and gain a deeper understanding of the factors influencing their health.

Her commitment to evidence-informed integrative medicine led her into clinical research. In 2016, Kelly served as lead doctor in a clinical trial investigating nutrient therapy for aggressive and violent behaviour in boys. She later presented the findings at conferences, contributing to the growing body of research exploring the role of nutrition in mental and behavioural health.

More recently, Kelly faced a second significant health challenge after developing MECFS, MCAS and POTS following mould exposure. She was forced to close her clinic, and take time to heal. Navigating her own recovery provided a deeper understanding of the realities of chronic illness and reinforced her commitment to helping patients whose symptoms often span multiple body systems and medical specialties. The experience further strengthened her interest in neuroimmune conditions, chronic inflammation and complex chronic illness.

Today, Kelly consults through GenBiome and Revolution Healthcare, where she works with children and adults experiencing autism, ADHD, PANS/PANDAS, neuroimmune conditions, MCAS, POTS, gastrointestinal disorders, chronic inflammation and other complex health presentations. She is particularly passionate about helping families who have struggled to find answers elsewhere and supporting patients to better understand their health and regain confidence in their future.

Outside medicine, Kelly enjoys snowboarding, pickleball, walking her dog, and regular sauna and ice bath sessions. She also loves singing and playing guitar (badly). Most importantly, she values time with family and remains committed to continually learning, growing and optimising her own health.

Looking deeper. Listening longer. Finding answers.
